2024 BENEFICIARIES
Meals on Wheels of Greenville
Established in 1968, primarily serves over 2,500 homebound, senior, and disabled individuals in Greenville County, filling a unique niche for this demographic often overlooked by broader social services. The grant application seeks funding to construct a new 25,000 – 30,000 square foot facility on 3.15 acres at 3905 Augusta Road. This expansion aims to meet growing service demands, enhance volunteer and community interaction, and improve operational efficiency including a professional kitchen, increased freezer capacity, and better support for agency partnerships and community engagement.
Roper Mountain Science Center
Established in 1985, is dedicated to igniting the natural curiosity of learners to explore and shape their world through hands-on, curriculum-based learning. It serves over 50,000 students annually across multiple districts and states with free or minimally charged educational programs, including virtual and physical outreach, summer camps, and teacher training through the Science PLUS Institute. The center is now seeking funding for a significant upgrade to the Hooper Planetarium's technology. This project aims to replace the outdated SciDome system with the advanced Digistar 7 digital theater system and introduce a new show titled “James Webb Telescope: The Story Unfolds” to enhance astronomy programming. This upgrade is crucial for maintaining the center's reputation as a premier source for accurate astronomy education and to commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2025, with Fluor Golf for Greenville potentially being recognized as the sponsor.
Center for Developmental Services (CDS)
The CDS is dedicated to simplifying and enhancing the care of children with developmental delays and disabilities by centralizing medical and support services. By providing early intervention and linking families with educational and therapeutic services, CDS significantly impacts children's lives, preventing developmental delays from becoming life-limiting. Serving over 8,000 children annually, CDS offers a comprehensive range of services, including developmental screenings, therapy, audiology, and case management for young adults transitioning out of school services. In its grant request, CDS seeks funding to replace its outdated HVAC control panel to ensure efficient heating and cooling of its 35,000 square foot facility. This upgrade is critical for the safety and comfort of its medically fragile clients and will enhance the facility's operational efficiency, benefiting both the children and families it serves and the over 150 staff members of partner agencies working within the CDS facility.
Emmanuel's Hammer
Emmanuel's Hammer is a non-profit organization dedicated to repairing and remodeling homes for those in need within the upstate region, focusing primarily on assisting senior citizens with poor health, limited income, and minimal family support. Despite having received no prior grants, the organization has significantly impacted the community by completing 478 home improvement projects last fiscal year, improving living standards for 44 families. To further expand its reach and increase its capacity to assist at least 50% more families, Emmanuel's Hammer is seeking grant funding to hire a Project Coordinator. This role will act as the expert in home repair and remodeling and oversee volunteer site operations. The grant will also support the purchase of necessary equipment, allowing the organization to allocate its current revenue towards construction materials, thereby enhancing its ability to serve the community more effectively.

GREENVILLE COUNTRY CLUB: RIVERSIDE COURSE
The Riverside Course, originally designed by “the Johnny Appleseed of American Golf” Thomas Bendelow who was responsible for designing over 600 courses in the United States over his 35-year career. The 1920 design opened for play on July 4, 1923.
In 2006, the Club commissioned famed architect Brian Silva to completely redesign the course in the Seth Raynor style. The course opened to rave reviews in 2007. In 2016, Riverside’s greens were converted to Champions Ultra-Dwarf Bermuda, a surface ideal for the links-style strategy conducive to many of the holes.
The Carolina Country Club
The Carolina Country Club is one of the top courses in the Upstate. Their classic 18-hole, par 72 championship course was designed by Tom Jackson and will delight all levels of players. From the moment you enter the front gate, their professional and friendly golf staff will see to your every need and provide an outing that will impress each and every guest.
The course meanders through a beautiful natural setting that brings streams and our signature lake into play on several holes. The course stretches to over 7,000 yards and offers six sets of tees to challenge golfers of all skill levels.

THE CLIFFS AT GLASSY
South Carolina’s only true mountaintop golf course is also one of the state’s most acclaimed. The Glassy course sits more than 3,000 feet above sea level, offering majestic views from its incomparable perch. This course has been ranked fourth most scenic in the nation, behind only Cypress Point, Pebble Beach and Augusta National — and when you arrive at the signature 13th hole, you’ll see why.
THE CLIFFS AT KEOWEE VINEYARDS
At The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, you’ll navigate tree-lined fairways, ravines, and coves that tuck in from the lake. With eight holes overlooking Lake Keowee and just about every teebox and green showcasing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this magnificent course takes full advantage of one of the most beautiful pieces of land found in the world. Absolutely one of our members favorites, it comes as no surprise that Golf Digest ranked it among the “Best in the State.”
